Without question the top match in the opening weekend of the English Premier League is between top contenders Liverpool and Arsenal on Sunday with kickoff is set for 10:00am EST (16:00). Online bookmakers have Arsenal +175 underdogs at home in Premier League odds vs Liverpool +150 with a draw or tie returning +225. Arsene Wenger has been the coach of Arsenal since 1996 and has one of his strongest clubs ever led by Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie. Wenger just signed an extension with Arsenal that will keep him with the club through 2014 as he said his plan is to retire with the team. Bookmakers also favor Liverpool FC PK (-130) in point spread soccer betting lines vs Arsenal FC PK (EV).

“My heart belongs to Arsenal and my desire is to see this team win silverware,” said Wenger. The experienced players and coaching staff we have here know we cannot do anything about expectations being thrust at us.” Arsenal does have injury concerns for Sunday’s match at Liverpool as Johan-Djourou, and Niklas Bendtner are out while Alex Song is doubtful. Denilson and Abou Diaby will face fitness tests for the game as well.
