Premier League transfer rumour mill is in full swing
* Manchester City have launched a bid to sign Valencia star David Silva and three other players from La Liga. They are also holding talks with Real Madrid trio Gonzalo Higuain, Rafael van der Vaart and Fernando Gago and Real could be ready to listen to offers to help fund swoops for Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole.
